Hay Fever and Sinusitis
Hay fever, catarrh, allergic rhinitis, perennial rhinitis and chronic sinusitis can be substantially helped by nNEAP. In many cases patients will become free of symptoms for long periods of time.
At this practice, hay fever and sinusitis are treated using nNEAP in conjunction with pulsed red light, which can produce a particularly rapid response.
For hay fever, 4-6 treatments are usually necessary but the effect normally lasts over 2 or 3 seasons and often even longer. Improvement can be very fast and some patients will have benefit right from the first treatment. The response in chronic sinusitis is usually long lasting too
We have also found that these techniques are useful for clearing up those chronic coughs which just go on and on despite repeated courses of antibiotics.
In our experience, patients with asthma often find their breathing is much easier and they can reduce their medication. Several studies have confirmed this effect, and patients reported significant improvement in their quality of life plus a reduction in the use of bronchodilators even though measurements of breathing showed no change.
A very large study in Germany with more than 5000 patients concluded "acupuncture therapy leads to clinically relevant and persistent benefits" in the treatment of allergic rhinitis
